IU Northwest School of Education academic policies require Undergraduate education students to:
- Earn a 2.5 GPA or higher each semester
- Achieve and maintain at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA and
- Earn a C or better in each required education course and content area courses
When these standards are not met, students are placed on academic probation until all academic deficiencies are removed. To be released from probation, students must raise their cumulative GPA to at least a 2.5 and/or successfully retake required education courses for which less than a C grade had been earned. Students should know that beginning their third consecutive semester of probation, they are placed on Strict Academic Probation. After one semester of strict academic probation, if all academic deficiencies are not removed, students are then dismissed from the School of Education.
