August Wilson's Two Trains Running
directed by Mark Spencer
It's 1969 and Memphis Lee's Hill District diner lies in a neighborhood in transition. The restaurant serves as a gathering place for a host of regulars: an elder who imparts wisdom from a local sage, an ex-con, a numbers runner, a resident intellectual, a laconic waitress, and a persistent man seeking his due. Part of Wilson’s American Century Cycle, TwoTrainsRunning tells the stories of a neighborhood and a country on the brink of change.

Dr. Jekyll is an upstanding and well-respected medical doctor in 1890s London. Known for his high ethical ideals, Dr. Jekyll has built his career by teaching others to follow logic instead of impulse. In secret Dr. Jekyll has been experimenting with a potion that will eradicate his own dark impulses. When he tests the potion on himself, Mr. Hyde is born: a persona driven only by anger, lust, and jealousy. As Jekyll struggles to keep his alter-ego a secret, Hyde’s violent influence grows until he meets Elizabeth.
