Sociology Club
IU Northwest’s Sociology Club encourages informal interaction among faculty and students, provides opportunities for students interested in sociology to meet one another, and provides a forum for relevant activities. Members organize field trips and informal lectures according to their educational interests. Membership is open not only to sociology majors, but to all students who have social concerns and seek a broad understanding of contemporary domestic and global events.
The department also maintains a chapter of Alpha Kappa Delta International Sociology Honor Society (Iota of Indiana Chapter). Students are selected on the basis of excellence in research.
Anthropology Club
The Anthropology Club sponsors many activities, including field trips, tours and guest speakers. Recent lectures have covered such topics as forensic anthropology and a demonstration of flintknapping, which is the making of stone tools. The club also sponsors the “Big One-Dollar Book Sale” as a fundraiser each fall and spring.
