Health information management (HIM) combines the disciplines of medicine, information management, and information technology. The profession encompasses planning, collecting, aggregating, analyzing, and disseminating individual patients’ and aggregate clinical data. HIM is an excellent major for those who want to work in healthcare but not provide direct patient care.
Within the Department of Health Information Management, interested students can obtain an Associate of Science Degree in Health Information Technology or a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Information Administration.
What careers can I pursue with an HIM degree?
Many of our Health Information Management graduates go on to work as data analysts right after graduation.
A health information career includes paths in data quality, informatics, data analytics, revenue cycle management, consumer health information (HI), and privacy, risk and compliance, many of which offer careers where you can work from home.
