Major in Communication Degree
SPCH S122, SPCH S424, SPCH S400 Capstone Course, and a COMM intensive writing course (SPCH S427 and/or SPCH S450). At least 15 hours at the 300-400 level in COMM, JOUR, SPCH, or TEL to make no fewer than 30 major hours. The S490 Internship counts in the Major. Courses are grouped into Informal Emphasis Areas and Majors are strongly encouraged to choose 12 hours in one of the groupings: a) Cultural and Relational Communication; b) Business Communication and Public Relations; or c) New Media Studies and Mass Communication. (Majors must also complete College of Arts and Sciences Group Distribution requirements as part of the overall total of at least 120 graduating hours). Communication Majors are required to have a Minor of at least 15 cr. hrs. in a discipline other than Communication, and should be approved by the Communication advisor and the other College/School offering the Minor.
