Pre-award services facilitate the development and submission of proposals prior to an award being received. OSR provides a full range of pre-award services to faculty, staff, and administrators in obtaining external funding from non-university sources
- Identify potential funding sources to leverage IUN’s strengths and talents
- Review sponsor guidelines for proposal requirements and competitive responsiveness
- Assist and/or write grant proposals and prepare required administrative forms
- Prepare internal and sponsor budgets and budget narratives or justifications
- Assist with cost share commitments and documentation as required
- Provide support for human subjects research and the IRB approval process
- Work with external partners to secure required subaward documentation as needed
- Ensure all IU information included within the proposal is accurate and complete
- Review the final proposal package to ensure all administrative requirements have been met
- Complete the final submission package and upload documents and forms for submission
Post-award services are grant management activities after an award is received, including the initial authority to spend grant funds through fiscal closeout and final reports at the end of the grant period.
- Assist PI/PDs (faculty and staff) with award creation and accounts establishment including setting up advanced accounts
- Review award document for requirements and highlight key issues for PI/PDs
- Monitor and manage grants in conjunction with PI/PDs, unit managers, and ORA to ensure compliance and expected outcomes
- Work with partnering institutions to secure necessary subaward documentation if needed
- Facilitate the establishment of agreements with and the payment of subrecipients as needed
- Work closely with Fiscal Affairs staff to ensure all cost share commitments are met
- Provide guidance on sponsor specific guidelines, rules, regulations, and Uniform Guidance
- Assist with preparing program and financial reports for funding sponsors
- Assist with all other award management requirements when requested
