Play synopsis
It is 1969 and Memphis Lee's Hill District diner lies in a neighborhood in transition. The restaurant serves as a gathering place for a host of regulars: an elder who imparts wisdom from a local sage, an ex-con, a numbers runner, a resident intellectual, a laconic waitress, and a persistent man seeking his due. Part of Wilson’s American Century Cycle, Two Trains Running tells the stories of a neighborhood and a country on the brink of change.
