Your team will be assigned a classroom which will serve as your homeroom for the day. Feel free to use it as your headquarters for the day. Please clean up the room at the end of the day. The gymnasium will have a section cordoned off for large items. Someone will be there at all times to make sure your items are safe.
Yes and no. Strictly speaking the maximum is 15. However, the Indiana Science Olympiad Committee agreed that additional students (alternates) could participate. These additional students are restricted to the trial events only. Additional students (alternates) must be identified at registration. Alternates will wear an armband that is a different color from other team members.
We will offer all B and C events that count towards the team's overall standing. We are also planning to offer trial events at the tournament this year.
We are planning to offer Agricultural Science, Botany, Protein Modeling and Remote Sensing at the 2025 tournament.
First, second and third place plaques will be awarded in both Division B and Division C.
Medals will be given to the top three teams for each event, and ribbons will be awarded to the 4th- through 6th-place teams for each event. If an event has five or fewer teams competing, we may opt to give only medals and not ribbons.
Judges are given wide latitude how they will handle their event. Therefore their decision will usually be the last word. However, in the unusual situation where a coach insists on mediation there will be an Arbitration Committee. There is an arbitration form that the coach must fill out and submit to the committee. The decision of this committee is final.
Feel free to contact the tournament director by sending an email to iunsciol@iu.edu or by phone at (219) 980-6718.
All event sign-ups are being handled through Scilympiad. You can start signing up for events on January 17th. Sign ups will close at 11:59 pm on January 31st.
***Note that for the 2025 tournament, the flight event (Helicopter) will be held in the Bergland Auditorium, not the gym
The gym ceiling height is 36.03 feet (10.98 meters). This is measured from the basketball court (floor) to the corrugated metal supports of the ceiling.
In some years, the runner-up B and C teams at the various regionals are invited to the Wild Card tournament which usually takes place in March. The top teams in the Wild Card tournament are invited to participate in the State Science Olympiad tournament. This tournament is not held every year.
We will not divide schools by class size for the tournament.

We have a large number of teams competing this year. Many of our events take place in laboratory spaces with a limited number of seats/stations. These events have been split into two sections/heats due to these space limitations.
Registration is handled via Scilympiad.
All coaches were emailed two additional forms - a photo release and a principal certification form. Each of your participants, including chaperones and coaches, should sign a photo release form. Any participants who do not sign the photo release will need to wear a specially colored armband so that our photographers will know not to publish any images with those individuals. Please identify these individuals at registration so that you may be given armbands for them.
Coaches will also need to complete the Principal Registration Form and either email a scan of it to the tournament director or bring it with you to the competition and present it at registration.
