Instead of paying the out-of-state tuition rate, MSEA students pay 1.5 times the in-state rate—a savings of more than $35,000 over the course of four years.
Here’s How it Works
The Midwest Student Enrollment Award (MSEA) is a discounted tuition award offered to students who reside in the states of Illinois and Michigan. Through the MSEA, Indiana University Northwest agrees to charge students no more than 150% of the in-state resident tuition rate for specific programs.
MSEA is available for undergraduate and graduate degree programs within the College of Arts & Sciences, School of the Arts, School of Education, School of Business, and the College of Health and Human Services.
Yes. Participation in the MSEA is available to both full-time and part-time degree seeking students.
You don’t have to apply for this award. Undergraduate students that have legal residents in Illinois or Michigan will see the MSEA award on their account after registering for classes.
The MSEA award will expire after four years of undergraduate study or upon earning an undergraduate degree; whichever occurs first. Students must be degree seeking and participating in a program which is not 100% online. In addition, student must be a permanent U.S. Citizen to qualify. MSEA benefits will be applied to tuition only. MSEA and financial aid awards can both be applied. When combined, the award cannot exceed the total cost of attendance. MSEA participants are responsible for all other fees assessed upon enrollment and associated with attendance. MSEA will continue to be awarded as long as the student remains an Illinois or Michigan resident and eligible to enroll in their chosen degree program.
