Attention!
Do not return to campus if you have symptoms of COVID-19 or believe you’ve been infected. Report your symptoms through the IU Health virtual screening clinic.
The spring 2022 semester on all IU campuses will be in person and we expect a return to mostly typical operations. Because of the university's vaccine requirement, you'll see most restrictions lifted, including no physical distancing, more in-person events, and a return to our typical classroom settings.
So, get ready for a great semester and refresh your memory on health and safety guidanceand all the resources available to you to stay healthy and safe on campus.

Will I need to wear a face mask while on campus?
IU instructs all individuals wear a mask inside buildings on campus, beginning August 5. This is a time-limited recommendation. We will continue to monitor local conditions and will make changes based on local data.
This requirement applies to all members of the university community, including employees, students, contractors, suppliers, vendors, and visitors.
* COMPLIMENTARY MASKS ARE AVAILABLE at the Savannah Center 112 (across from the Bookstore) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (M-F), or the Moraine Student Center 116 (IUPD-Northwest) from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. (M-F and weekends).
Schedule a symptomatic test: begin the process by completing the COVID-19 symptom checker to detail the symptoms you are experiencing.
Get tested: If testing is required, you will be given information concerning where to go, testing hours, etc. Symptomatic patients should NOT arrive at the IU Northwest Health & Wellness Clinic unannounced; walk-in testing is NOT being done.
Get your results: Your COVID-19 test result will be emailed to you within 24 to 72 hours of your symptomatic test.
I was in close contact with someone who tested positive. What should I do?
If you live with someone, or have spent time with a close contact, who is exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms, please encourage them to isolate (i.e., in a bedroom and bathroom to themselves), wear a mask and consult with a healthcare provider.
You should quarantine in your residence until you know if the individual has tested positive.
If you are fully vaccinated, you should wear a mask and get tested three to five days after exposure. As long as you don't have symptoms, you may continue with your normal routine and do not need to quarantine.
If you are not vaccinated (or not yet fully vaccinated), you are expected to quarantine for 10 days from the time you were exposed.
What COVID-19 testing options are available to me while on campus?
There are several different types of COVID-19 testing options available to IU Northwest students, faculty and staff:
Symptomatic Testing: For students, faculty and staff experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.
COVID Check Testing: Students, faculty and staff who are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Voluntary Asymptomatic Testing: Free, optional saliva-based COVID-19 testing for those students, faculty and staff who do not have any symptoms of COVID-19.
What kind of health and safety precautions are in place?
Please note that a COVID-19 vaccine is required for all IU students, faculty and staff, or the indiviudal must have an approved exemption before coming to campus. This requirement is part of IU’s ongoing successful response to and management of the COVID-19 pandemic on its campuses.
In addition, other health and safety precautions, including regular cleaning and sanitizing, contract tracing, and symptomatic and asymptomatic voluntary testing, will remain in place.
Yes. Classrooms, labs, dining, recreation and other campus facilities will return to pre-pandemic capacities, with no physical distancing required. Classes will be held in person in typical classroom settings.
In order to continue following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Indiana Department of Health (IDOH), we are instructing all IU students, employees, and visitors to wear a mask indoors.
What resources are available to students for academic success as well as health and wellness?
IU Northwest is committed to the success of all of our students both inside the classroom and outside. Students always have access to the faculty members teaching their courses, academic advisors, student affairs professionals and others.
We're also keenly aware of the toll the pandemic is taking on our students' mental health. Our on-campus student health and counseling centers have a number of mental health resources including counseling.
COVID-19 Vaccine Questions
Will IU Northwest require the COVID-19 vaccine?
Yes. With the ultimate goal of returning our campuses to normal operations, beginning with the fall 2021 semester, all Indiana University (including IUPUI) students, faculty and staff will be required to have a COVID-19 vaccine and be fully vaccinated or have an approved exemption before coming to campus.
This requirement is part of IU’s ongoing successful response to and management of the COVID-19 pandemic on its campuses and will allow the university to lift most restrictions
All current students, faculty and staff will use IU’s COVID-19 vaccine report form to attest that they are vaccinated and report all doses of your vaccine. If you’re receiving a two-dose vaccine, you should complete the form after each dose.
Incoming students should plan to complete the self-report form once have created their IU email account.
