Mrs. Johnson has been in Health Information Management for over 25 years. She is a Clinical Lecturer and Clinical Coordinator for the Health Information Management program at Indiana University Northwest.
In her role as Clinical Coordinator, she developed an innovative student engagement program in Revenue Cycle which facilitates experiential learning for HIM students in cooperation with all the major healthcare organizations in Northwest Indiana. She received her bachelor’s degree with honors in Health Information Administration from Indiana University. She also holds a CCS-P credential from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), and is an AHIMA approved Revenue Cycle Trainer. She is currently completing coursework towards a master’s degree in adult education.
She has served as a strategy group member of AHIMA’s HIM Reimagined initiative. Her previous work in HIM includes revenue cycle management as well as coding and reimbursement in OB/GYN, Perinatal, and Orthopedic Surgery practices. Mrs. Johnson also consults for a variety of healthcare organizations, in revenue optimization and coding compliance.
In 2019 she presented at the International Federation of Health Information Management Association's (IFHIMA) Congress in Dubai.
